Tom Killion

I’ve been catching up with Jay Carroll as of late, and in doing so, I’ve also been getting in deep to his sorta-newish One Trip Pass blog. I stayed up late last night staring at these Tom Killion prints of the High Sierra, California Coast, Big Sur and San Francisco bay. Jay calls them “mesmerizing.” I do too.

See more of Killion’s work here.

If you like this sort of rugged, passionate landscape art you really ought to check out the work of Canada’s Group of Seven, as well as honourary members Tom Thompson and Emily Carr.

Come see them up close at the Thacher Gallery at USF. “Silent Poetry: Woodcut Prints of the California Landscape by Tom Killion” on view through October 9…actually through about noon of October 9!

By the way, the gallery is open 24/4 from Sunday noon to Friday at 8 p.m.! Open weekend days too.
