Boot companies, designers, rich entrepreneurs, please heed the call. Make a boot with me:
So I ask you, North Face, Vasque, Hi-Tec, Columbia, Merrell (all of you used to make a pair just like the Clarions) why don’t you make a boot like this anymore? Is it because they wouldn’t be as functional for hiking by today’s standards? Then let’s remedy that! I’m sure we can find a way.

I’d love to see some more boot companies making hiking boots inspired by the ones they used to make.
I will always sweat those Vasques of yours.
YES PLEASEE!!
You are right, Merrell did used to make product like this. Boots and shoes are the one product that we like to look at the scars from old scrambles and remember that time. We had a product meeting yesterday at Merrell and you helped tip the scales in favor of us going back to the future.
Vasque made an all leather boot in the early 80′s, crafted in Italy, leather uppers, leather lined, Littleway welt; absolutely georgous. I once found a pair in a thrift store, but not in my size. In my dreams I find this boot in size 11. I have a catalog with this particular boot and someday I will get lucky. Keep the faith.
I just wanted to point out that the comment from Craig above came to fruition on Merrell’s end.
